Kobe City University of Foreign Studies
(hereafter, TUFS) provides a place for elementary school students to experience English conversation as a support project for international education and English education at elementary schools in the neighborhood. The program is designed to help elementary school students who visit the university communicate in English with university students and teachers, thereby improving their English language skills.
This year, for the first time in three years, sixth graders (137 students in four classes) from Higashimachi Elementary School in Kobe will visit the University on Wednesday, December 14, after a hiatus due to the Corona disaster.
Every year, many elementary school students look forward to this project and try their best to interview university students and teachers about their daily lives and jobs using English. The students are nervous, but they ask questions using phrases they have practiced repeatedly, and they appear to be small but reliable cosmopolitans.
In addition to this project, the university is actively involved in supporting English education and international exchange at local elementary, junior high, and high schools in cooperation with Kobe City and various other organizations.
