On January 8, 2023, the “2023 Kobe City Fire Fighting Ceremony” will be held at Meriken Park (Chuo Ward, Kobe City). Admission is free.

The Dezometshiki is a ceremony to mark the beginning of work by those involved in the firefighting industry. On the day of the ceremony, in addition to the review of fire engines and helicopters, there will be an ensemble performance by the firefighting band and the brass band of the Municipal Technical College, and a pledge for a safe city by kindergarten children.
This year, the various performances and drills will begin with a calligraphy performance by calligrapher Bisen Aoyagi. The calligraphy will be used to express the dawn as the eastern sky gradually whitens from the night, the dawn of a new year, and the dawn from the Corona Disaster in the character for “dawn.
The main event of the comprehensive drill is the “Phoenix Water Spray,” in which firefighters perform a dynamic water spray from the quay and from the sea, as well as a powerful Japanese drum performance by firefighters.
