On January 22, a morning market event “Kura Marche” will be held at Hamafukutsuru Ginjo Kobo, a sake brewery in Higashinada-ku, Kobe. Admission is free.
This is a regular event where local producers and sellers gather to offer “seasonal tastes” and is scheduled to be held on the third Sunday of every month. On the first day of the New Year, a “sake brewery safety brewing prayer ceremony” will be held to pray for the safety of the brewing period, and the prayed new sake will be served to visitors as sacred sake (the ceremony will end when all sake is gone).
Hamafukutsuru is located in Uosaki Township, a core sake brewing area called Kami-nada, one of the “Nada-Gogo” (five Nada districts), which boasts the highest production volume in Japan among all the sake breweries in Japan. It is said to have been reconstructed as a modern “tour sake brewery” after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, with the aim of restarting itself as a high-quality ginjo sake brewing workshop.
At the venue, there will be a sale of special goody bags that reflect the recovery from the earthquake, takikomi-gohan (cooked rice) from “Izu-Yone”, a rice shop in Mikage that sells rice carefully selected by a “rice master”, morning fried seafood tempura, kujo negi tempura and squid from “Kanetetsu Delicatessen Foods”, and yaki-sales from “Tofu-ya Yosoya”. Yakisai, and handmade tofu from Tofu-ya Yoichi.
The company says, “Please come and try the first in a popular series of new sake for the first sale of the new year, ‘Shigome Ichi-No.’ Daiginjyo. <A word from the reporter>
It will be a nice reward for yourself to relax and taste delicious sake and gourmet food in the fresh morning air♪
