A baby Angora rabbit born last December at Kobe Animal Kingdom (Chuo-ku, Kobe) will be open to the public from February 3. The opening hours will be from opening to closing.
There are eight baby rabbits in total. They are not only white, but also black and gray, and can be viewed in the “Contact Animals” area on the north floor.
The newest rabbit is a breed called the English Angora. They are said to be one of the “oldest type of rabbits,” and their fluffy fur and sparkling eyes with droopy pupils are their charm points.
When they were just born, they were about the size of a fist and spent their time clustered together in a fluffy nest made of timothy (hay) and their own hair by their mother, Hermie.
Now, at just over a month and a half old, she has grown accustomed to her new surroundings and is eating hearty meals every day.
They will grow up in no time, so please come and see them in their cute prime, which you can only see at this time of the year. <A word from the reporter:
The keeper says that if you look closely, you will see that each animal’s face is slightly different from the next. It will be fun to observe them carefully and try to choose your favorite rabbit.
