From March 20, strawberry picking service started at Hotel Plaza Kobe in Higashinada-ku, Kobe City. 15 people a day can enjoy picking strawberries any time of the year.
Strawberry picking at a hotel?
The hotel is frequented by families, and the idea of “strawberry picking” was conceived as part of a variety of experiences that can be enjoyed within the hotel. Normally, strawberries are difficult to grow in summer, but with the cooperation of Takarazuka City’s Yuyu System, a strawberry picking system was developed that can be enjoyed year-round.
Over 1,000 strawberry plants of more than 10 varieties, including “Benihoppe” and “Sagahonoka,” are being grown in a space of about 185 square meters. This is the first time in Japan that strawberries are grown hydroponically in a hotel building, and also the first time that strawberry picking is available in a hotel building.
It is safe even for children!
No soil is used, so the strawberries and your feet stay clean. The strawberries you pick can be eaten right away. Also, since it is indoors and air-conditioned, it can be enjoyed in any weather.
Strawberry picking is limited to 15 people per day and is held for 30 minutes from 11:00 a.m. daily. Even those who are not staying at the hotel can enjoy the event. <A word from the reporter:
