This project was initiated in the hope that visitors will “enjoy a picnic of a higher grade of quality” surrounded by seasonal flowers at the garden, which is also a popular picnic spot. A “picnic basket” will be provided, which includes food, sweets, and picnic items.
The picnic basket includes an original lunch box, baked sweets, a mini bottle of wine, two bottles of mineral water, dried flowers, and soap bubbles. Rental items include leisure sheets, cutting boards, cutlery sets, garland, alphabet objects, and blackboards. Optional paid items such as rugs, round towels, and cushions (300 yen each) will also be available.
During the period, nemophila (early to late May), chamomile (early May to early June), pot marigolds (until early June), as well as about 60 varieties of rose (mid-May to late June) and lavender (late May to early July) will be at their best.
Normally, eating and drinking are prohibited inside the building, but an indoor picnic space will be provided only in case of rain or stormy weather.
Pick-up and drop-off hours are from 10:30 to 14:00. Fee: 7,000 yen (picnic basket for two); limited to 10 groups per day. Advance reservations are required. Applications will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. two days prior to the date of use by phone until July 2 (except during Golden Week, April 29-May 7).
GARDEN FEST 2023-Spring” is currently being held at the park. Yayoi Yoneya, the garden’s public relations manager, says, “We are holding a variety of events that allow visitors to fully enjoy spring, such as strolling through the brightly colored spring garden, having an elegant lunch time, and interacting with herbs and fragrances. We hope to provide visitors with a “quality way of spending time,” which is the theme of this project, along with the photogenic scenery of the herb garden that is an indispensable part of the “Osha Picnic” event.
Hours of operation are from 9:30 to 16:45 (until 20:15 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). Admission is 1,800 yen for adults, 900 yen for elementary and junior high school students (including round-trip ropeway ride), etc.
