On July 15, 16, and 17, “Summer Festival” will be held at Kaijinja (Tarumi Ward, Kobe City).
Since ancient times, Kaijinsha has been revered as a god of safe navigation and prosperous fishing. Today, the shrine is also known as the god of easy childbirth and the god of good fortune and good luck.
On July 15, the annual “Summer Festival” is held at the shrine to purify the shrine of the impurities of the past six months and to pray for good health for the remaining six months of the year. General visitors are also allowed to enter the shrine and go through the thatched ring set up in the shrine grounds to purge themselves of evil spirits.
Andon lanterns made by local children will be hung in the main hall of the shrine to make the “Summer Festival” more exciting.
In addition, many stalls will be set up in the precincts of the shrine throughout the three days. Please note that alcohol is not allowed to be sold or brought in, and the festival will end and the gates will close at 21:00 on all three days.
<A word from the reporter:
The Kaijinsha Summer Festival is looked forward to by many people every year. In the past few years, the number of stalls has been greatly reduced, but this year the number will be returned to 70% of what it was before the Corona disaster. We hope to pass through the thatch ring and stay healthy in the latter half of 2023!
