Eight Baby English Angoras Open to the Public at Kobe Animal Kingdom

　On February 3, the public viewing of baby English Angoras will begin at Kobe Animal Kingdom (7 Minatojima-Minamimachi, Chuo-ku, Kobe; tel 078-302-8899 ), an all-weather facility on Kobe Port Island.

　The English Angora is characterized by its long hair. According to the facility, English Angoras are the oldest type of rabbit, and there are four varieties, with the facility’s English Angora being the smallest. It is the only one with decorative hair on its face.

　Last December 17, the mother “Hermie” gave birth for the second time to eight babies with white, black, and gray fur. As of January 31, they weighed 500 to 600 grams and were about 15 cm long.

　All eight animals have eaten as much as their mothers and are growing well.

　The eight animals have slightly different faces,” said Satsuki Hiyama, a breeding staff member. They were born from a mother with pure white fur, but not all of them have white fur.

　Their ears are still small and their hair is still short. They will grow up quickly, and their hair will grow longer and become decorated with hair, giving them the unique shape of English Angoras. Don’t miss the chance to see them only at this time of the year, and watch their growth with warmth.

　Open from 10:00 to 16:00 (until 17:00 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). Closed on Thursdays. Admission is ¥1,800 for adults (junior high school students and older), ¥1,000 for elementary school students, ¥300 for infants (4 years and older), and ¥1,300 for seniors (65 years and older).
