Aina Satoyama Park (Kita-ku, Kobe) will hold a “Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival) Fair” from February 18 until March 12.
Opened in 2016 as a park where visitors can casually experience satochi-satoyama culture, the park features traditional architecture modeled after thatched minka houses that have been relocated and a thatched rural stage from the Aina community, as well as a “medaka pond” where visitors can observe water creatures and a “play forest” with four large slides and other playground equipment. The park also features a “play forest” where visitors can enjoy four large slides and other playground equipment.
The fair will be held in conjunction with the Doll Festival season, and will feature the thatched thatched house “Dengo no Ie,” which was relocated from the Showa and Heisei periods to a new location. On March 4, a limited amount of warm amazake (sweet sake) will be served.
The garden also offers a “Satoyama Experience Menu” that allows visitors to participate in firewood making and harvesting. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event, which is held twice a day at 11:00 and 13:30. Participation is free of charge.
