Press Release (February 21, 2023)
Environmental Health Division, Health Bureau
General public bathhouses are necessary for the health and hygiene of local residents in their daily lives, so the maximum bathing fee is set by the price control (Imperial Ordinance No. 118, 1946) to ensure that people have opportunities to use bathhouses. These rates (bathing rates) were raised on February 1, 2023, in response to the soaring cost of utilities.
In order to ensure bathing opportunities for local residents from the viewpoint of health promotion and hygiene, we have decided to compensate general public bathhouses for the difference between the two rates as a measure to alleviate the drastic change caused by the increase in bathing fees, and allow bathhouse users to bathe at the same rates as before (before February 1).
Member facilities of the Kobe City Union of Bathhouse Associations have decided to forego the February price increase and maintain the 450 yen rate through self-help efforts.
