130th Anniversary of Harold Lloyd’s Birth, Screening of His Major Works Motomachi Movie Theater Special Screening

Motomachi Cinema (Chuo-ku, Kobe) will hold “SILENT FILM LIVE #19,” a screening of silent films with live music, from March 25 to 31.

Movies were born in 1895. For the first 30 to 40 years, there was no technology to add sound to film, and movies were enjoyed with live music playing next to the screen. SILENT FILM LIVE” is a screening that allows visitors to experience silent films in the style of those days.
This year’s event, titled “130th Anniversary of Harold Lloyd’s Birth,” will feature three films by the king of comedy, Harold Lloyd: Lloyd’s Essentials, Lloyd’s Popular, and Tagosaku Lloyd’s First Spear. All screenings include live upright piano accompaniment and after-talk.
