Gem of animation now receiving glowing reviews around the world Motomachi Cinema

Motomachi Cinema (Chuo-ku, Kobe) will present “From Fingertips to the Universe: The Wonderful World of Animated Short Films” from March 25 to April 6.

This is a special screening of five masterpiece animated short films that have received worldwide acclaim, including Cannes, Berlin, Ottawa, Ars Electronica, and Japan Media Arts Festival.
The lineup includes Jiko Mizuhiri’s “Anxious Body,” which premiered at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival and has since won more than 10 international awards; Jun Wada’s “The Birds of the Peninsula,” whose unique and bizarre world view has taken the world by storm, including a Special Mention in the Short Film Category at the Berlin Film Festival and the Grand Prix at the Ottawa International Animation Film Festival; and “The Birds of the Peninsula,” a colorful and pop-inspired short film that is currently being screened at the Cannes Film Festival. I’m Late, an animation documentary about menstruation by Sawako Kabuki, whose colorful and pop style has gained her a devoted fan base.
ETERNITY
ETERNITY, a blockbuster work by Mirai Mizue, who is highly acclaimed for her non-narrative animations with pleasantly synchronized images and music, made its world premiere at the same event.
In addition, “Control Your Emotion” will be screened as a special “advance short” from “The Orbit of Minor Satellites,” a new feature film by Chris Sullivan, the American genius who completed the 2.5-hour long “Consuming Spirits” as a personal production.

The event, which was held at Shibuya’s Eurospace last December for a limited one-week run, is now touring the country. Finally, the event will be held in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. After the 17:40 screening on March 25, the director of “Peninsula Island”, Jun Wada, will give a speech on the stage.
