Suma Myohoji River Cherry Blossom Festival” will be held on April 2 at Myohoji River Park, one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Suma Ward, Kobe City. The festival will be held even in light rain (cancelled in case of stormy weather).
This event has been held every year since 2001, when the first “Sakura Festival” was held as part of the 21st Century Reconstruction Commemorative Project, and is held every year when the cherry blossoms are at their best. This year will be the first time in four years since the Corona Disaster.
The Myohoji River Park, the venue of the festival, will be the center of the event, and approximately 400 Someiyoshino cherry trees will be in full bloom along the Myohoji River, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful rows of cherry trees (*Barbecuing in the park and along the river is prohibited).
In the booth zone, there will be 12 stalls selling yakisoba, sushi, and other gourmet foods prepared by local organizations, as well as miscellaneous goods and textiles! In the Children’s Plaza, there will be 5 booths for children such as target shooting, lottery, ground golf, etc., as well as a motorcycle display by the Suma Police Department.
On a special stage, there will be an opening act by the brass band club of Ota Junior High School, followed by kids’ dancing, singing, and Japanese drum performances.
The Suma Myohoji River Cherry Blossom Festival Executive Committee, which organizes the event, comments, “This is the first time in four years that we are holding this festival, and we have prepared delicious food and spectacular stage events for more people to enjoy. <A word from the reporter>
There is no dedicated parking lot in the park, so please use public transportation or pay parking in the neighborhood. Let’s enjoy the festival handmade by Suma Ward residents!
