On April 29, Kobe Art Village Center, a cultural and art facility in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City, will be reopened under the new name “Shinkaichi Art Plaza.
More accessible! Power Up!
Shinkaichi Art Plaza was opened in 1996 with the aim of making Shinkaichi an even more vibrant city through the power of art. While the facility has contributed to the discovery and development of small theater and contemporary art, it was believed that there was still room for more contribution in terms of community revitalization.
The logo is said to be based on the motif “Hi” from the key words “Hiraita,” “Hiroba,” and “Hirameki,” which represent the characteristics of the facility.
The decision to renew the facility was made to mark the 25th anniversary of its opening and to make it a place that is used on a daily basis not only by those interested in art, but also by a diverse range of citizens. The name of the facility will be changed, and the logo design will also be renewed.
High-ceilinged gallery
The theater on the basement floor will be converted into a gallery that can be used for solo and group exhibitions, and a new free space called “TE TE TE Park” will be established on the first floor for children up to elementary school age and their parents to enjoy picture books and toys.
It can be used free of charge as a children’s playground.
On April 28, one day before the renovation, a preview was held for users. The facility will be regarded as a “playground” for the local community, and will be a place where people can casually drop by and interact with each other, as well as hold regular participatory events. <
Art facilities are often difficult to enter or have a high threshold. If there is a space for children to play, there will be more opportunities for parents and children to visit!
