A junk music concert & workshop by Tomo Yamaguchi, a percussionist of scrap percussion instruments, will be held at Kobe Bunka Hall (Chuo-ku, Kobe) on August 1. Tickets are now on sale.
With the motto “Music = Enjoying Sound,” Tomo Yamaguchi has been performing using original scrap percussion instruments, and is attracting attention as a percussionist who breathes life into junk.
The world of music created by the scrap percussion instruments is said to be enjoyable for both children and adults.
In the workshop, which is perfect for summer vacation crafts, participants can make pecker (plastic bottle maracas). Bring beads, marbles, or anything else you like to put inside PET bottles.
Ms. Yamaguchi will also appear as a soloist in the Kobe Chamber Orchestra’s 159th Regular Concert “Knock on the Door of a New World! on September 2 as a soloist.
<A word from the reporter>
In the words of Tomo Yamaguchi, “A world of sound born from garbage. Just as music begins as soon as you hit the floor with your hands and feet, it is good that even things that look like junk can be turned into musical instruments, something that everyone can enjoy in common♪
