Kobe Shinkaichi Kirakukan” in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City, is inviting junior high and high school students living in Hyogo Ward for free during the summer vacation. The invitation is limited to the first 20 students per day and will remain open until August 31.
The theater opened in 2018 as an entertainment hall where visitors can enjoy a wide range of entertainment such as Kamigata Rakugo (traditional Japanese comic storytelling) in the daytime and Rakugo, East-West Rakugo, Kodan, and Nankyoku in the evening, as well as music, dance, and other entertainment. This year marks the 5th anniversary of its opening.
The free invitations were planned to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the facility and the 90th anniversary of Hyogo Ward’s incorporation, and to let students know that Kamigata Rakugo is available in their hometown Hyogo Ward.
Junior high and high school students who are invited free of charge will be able to see a noon performance of Kamigata Rakugo and participate in events held during the festival! To receive a free invitation, students must show proof that they live or attend school in Hyogo Ward at the reception desk.
<A word from the reporter:
This seems like a good opportunity to get interested in rakugo, which I have not had many chances to listen to! It will also be a good opportunity to learn about Rakugo in your own hometown.
