On November 25, the Eastern Market Festa will be held again this year at the Eastern Central Wholesale Market in Fukaehama (Higashinada Ward, Kobe City) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Admission is free and the event will be held rain or shine.
The “Shopping Day” and “Ichiba Yokocho Festival” are held on the fourth Saturday of odd-numbered months in principle to raise awareness of the Eastern Market as a market open to citizens.
The festival was temporarily suspended due to the Corona disaster, but was revived last year. On this day, the general public can purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, and flowers at special prices, and there are also a variety of events.
The event area in the wholesale building will feature a tuna dismantling show and sale (reservations required), a mock produce auction, and a special flower sale.
In the Yokocho Festival area located in the affiliated business building, there will be a handmade pork bun class (reservation required), a JAZZ band performance, and all-you-can-stuff vegetables for 300 yen. The popular “Yokocho Fun Bento” will also be on sale. In the shopping day area located in the wholesale hall building, visitors can enjoy unique shopping at seafood and fruit and vegetable stores.
Please check the flyer or the website for details on the times and participation methods of the various events.
<A word from the reporter>
Normally, the wholesale market is highly specialized and difficult to enter, but on this day, general shoppers can also enter and purchase a variety of items, which makes me happy! After the dynamic demolition show, I want to buy a fresh tuna fillet to take home.
