On January 7, 2024, the “2024 Kobe City Fire Fighting Ceremony” will be held at Meriken Park in Chuo Ward, Kobe City. Admission is free, and the availability of the event will be announced on the Kobe City website.
The event, which has become an annual New Year’s event, will be held under the theme of “Showing the determination of the fire department to protect the irreplaceable everyday life and support the safe city of Kobe as it flutters into the future. We hope that the event will help people learn more about firefighting and increase their awareness of disaster prevention. With this in mind, firefighters and fire brigade members will present the results of their daily activities.
The event will start with a performance by the Kobe City Fire Band, followed by performances by students and kindergarten children. The highlight of the event will be the final part of the performance, when the phoenix water discharge and the Japanese drum performance by the firefighters will be united.
A “stamp rally” will be held at the venue, where visitors can win prizes (limited quantities) by visiting booths. Visitors can learn about disaster prevention through hands-on experiences at booths where they can observe fire engines and ambulances up close and take pictures, and at booths where they can experience a simulated landslide with VR goggles.
<A word from the reporter>
