The company focused its attention on the fact that after business hours, bread stores produce unsold and disposed of lost bread, even though it can still be eaten. The company is involved in the “Asupan” business, which rebrands lost bread from multiple bakeries in Kobe as “Kobe’s Bread Treasure Box” and distributes it to places and times where there is demand for it. This lunch business is also a new business model utilizing “Asupan.
The lunch menu includes handmade soup, two breads selected by the company members to go with the soup, and two breads that customers can freely choose from, for a total of four breads, a salad, and a drink such as coffee. The price is 1,200 yen including tax.
The soup of the day was a potage of pumpkin and mushrooms. The breads served were from “Ouchipan R BAKERY” and “Bakery Sunlight Lily. The soup menu and breads are changed every week, so “different combinations can be enjoyed each time,” according to the company.
After the first day of business, company representative Yui Kosuge expressed her hope that the soup and bread will provide a place for local residents to take a rest and relax. She also hopes that the Asupan at the café will help as many people as possible to appreciate the appeal of Kobe’s bakeries.
The cafe is scheduled to open every Friday from now on. Business hours are from 11:30 to 14:00.
