First solo exhibition in Kobe! More than 30 works to be exhibited all at once at Kawada Gallery

Kawada Gallery, an art gallery in Okamoto, will hold a solo exhibition, “Kota Miyazaki” (Higashinada-ku, Kobe), starting February 17. The exhibition will run until March 2.

Kota Miyazaki is an artist from Aichi Prefecture who began creating artworks after completing the graduate course in contemporary expression at Nagoya University of Arts in 2010.

The staff at Kawada Gallery commented on the appeal of Mr. Miyazaki’s works, “We would like to draw your attention not only to the interest of his paintings, which are completed by running his brush over a completed picture, but also to his point of view, which uses “people we have all seen, or things we always pass by or overlook without thinking” as a motif. Miyazaki’s works depict the time and temperature of his motifs, and his careful eye and light brushstrokes make us feel relieved and lighthearted when we look at his works.

This is his first solo exhibition in Kobe, and more than 30 works will be exhibited at once.

＜Kota Miyazaki comments:
My works are completed by strokes of the brush on top of the finished piece. The way it looks depends on the image of each motif. In this solo exhibition, I am paying particular attention to movement. I hope you can feel the physical movement and the afterimages created when things move, along with the life-like sensation of the paint.

<A word from the reporter>
The nearest station to the venue is JR Settsuhonyama Station. It is only about a two-minute walk away, so it is easy to visit. The artist will be present on February 17, the first day of the exhibition, so you will be able to hear directly from the artist about his works.
