The aquarium “Kobe Suma Sea World” (Suma-ku, Kobe) is scheduled to open on June 1. Prior to the opening, a “free preview” will be held for Kobe citizens on May 30. The number of participants is limited to 500, and applications are being accepted through the website until April 17 (by lottery).
The aquarium is the only aquarium in western Japan where orcas can be seen! In addition, there is an area where visitors can learn about orca ecology and an area where they can interact with dolphins, making it an aquarium that both adults and children can enjoy.
For this free preview, 500 Kobe City residents were invited (150 of whom live in Suma Ward). The schedule for the event allows visitors to see a killer whale performance and dolphin performance ahead of time.
