Kobe: “KOBE2024 World Para Athletics Championships” Conceived by University Students and International Students in the City

The Kobe 2024 World Para Athletics Championships Organizing Committee (“Organizing Committee”), in collaboration with university students and international students in the city, has developed two types of boxed lunches to be sold at the venue during the Games.

About the IAAF World Para Championships x Obento Development Project The IAAF

Organizing Committee, in collaboration with university and international students in Kobe, has developed two types of obento to be sold at the venues during the championships, in order to attract as many people as possible to the championships and to help them enjoy the event through “food”. The theme of the lunchboxes was “Local” and “World”, and after much trial and error in January with local lunchbox businesses, the lunchboxes were finally completed after a tasting in March by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee (Akemi Masuda) and the Vice Chairman (the Mayor).

. Description of the lunchbox

“Aroma of Hyogo-Kobe” 1,500 yen (tax included) The lunchbox is packed with delicious foods from Hyogo and Kobe, including Kobe beef, vegetables from Kobe City, rice from Hyogo Prefecture, Tanba black beans, Tajima chicken, and more. The bento is also visually pleasing, with the Rokko Mountains represented by triangular rice balls, and the traditional Japanese culture of “tea ceremony” represented by decorations resembling flower petals and green tea straw rice cakes.
Weir the Circle Lunchbox” 1,200 yen (tax included) International students from Korea, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and other countries served dishes familiar to them in their home countries. There is a Korean word “bibim,” which means “to mix,” and as the word implies, this bento is a mixture of cultures from various countries in one circle. It is delicious as it is, but we also recommend eating it “bibim”.

Kobe 2024 World Para Athletics Championships

The World Para Athletics Championships is the world’s premier para-athletics event established by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The 11th edition of the championships will be held in Kobe, Japan for the first time in East Asia. The Kobe 2024 World Para Athletics Championships is also a prelude to the Paris Paralympic Games to be held this summer, providing an excellent opportunity to watch live the heated competition among Para athletes vying for the final spot in the games.
