Kobe City: Consultation by “KOBEKO Developmental Specialist Team” in Higashinada and Nada Wards

Kobe City launched the “KOBEKKO Developmental Specialist Team” in April 2023, consisting of doctors, public health nurses, psychologists and welfare specialists, and has been implementing a consultation service for preschool children in Tarumi and Nishi (western area) wards since October of the same year on a model basis. The team has been operating a model consultation service for preschool children in Tarumi and Nishi wards (western region) since October 2023.
　We are pleased to announce that the consultation service will be expanded to Higashinada and Nada Wards (eastern area) in June 2024.

1. Eligibility

Preschool children between the ages of 1 and 6 years old residing in Higashinada and Nada wards and their guardians who are considering consulting with the Eastern Regional Rehabilitation Center Clinic or other specialized developmental institutions for the first time.

2. Contents

• Public health nurses, psychologists, and welfare workers conduct interviews, developmental tests, and behavioral observations
• Seek support tailored to the situation of the child and family, including advice on how to treat the child and referrals to support sources.
• Referrals to specialized medical institutions including the Eastern Rehabilitation Center Clinic and the Child and Family Center when medical examinations and more detailed tests are necessary.

3. Location and reception

• Held at the ward office of the residential district
• Online registration starts on June 3, 2024 on the city website

4. Others

• For those who live in areas other than the western and eastern parts of the city (Chuo, Hyogo, Kita, Nagata, and Suma wards) and wish to consult with a city specialized agency regarding their child’s development, consultations are available at the General Rehabilitation Center Clinic and the Child and Family Center.
• Public health nurses and local medical institutions in each ward provide consultation services for those who are concerned about their child’s growth and development, or who are familiar with the issue before consulting a specialized institution.
