Cute “Tojii” Goods Modeled after Touji (Chief Brewer) Hakutsuru Sake Brewery

Hakutsuru Sake Brewery (Higashinada-ku, Kobe) has been selling goods in collaboration with Kobe local brand “Kobepipo” since May 16.

Created by Akiko Miyako, a local Kobe essay cartoonist and illustrator. With input from employees of Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. the original goods are unique to Hakutsuru, and have the character of a Kobe sake brewery.

Kobepipo is an abbreviation of “Kobe People” and also has the meaning of “humble and respectful Japanese who hang their heads (kobe). The characters vary in age, gender, and background, and their unique characters and catchy designs are attracting a lot of attention.

In this collaboration, as a sake brewery-only cobepipo, a wide variety of original goods, including magnets and key chains, as well as collaborative goods such as sake bags and notebooks with “Tojiy,” a model of a toji (master brewer), will be released. The goods are available at the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum and other directly managed stores.

About Tojiy:
Tojiy is a master sake brewer and an old toji (master brewer) who continues to tell everyone he meets about sake, which is a traditional Japanese culture and heritage, sake brewing, Nada-Gogo, and all the sake Hakutsuru Brewery Co.

Kobe’s cute characters will make you giggle when you read about them, and Tojiy, an expert in sake brewing, makes an appearance! These are not only good for souvenirs, but are also great collectors’ items!
