This project aims to connect local children, who bear the future, with “food” and “agriculture” like “friends” by helping them learn about the appeal of organic vegetables and food safety. The lunch menu was created based on what children from the alternative school “Learn Net Aaru” (Okamoto 2, Higashinada-ku, Tokyo) learned when they visited the fields of “Bio Creators” (Nishi Ward, Kobe), an organization of organic farmers in Kobe.
Mr. Nigo Doi, a staff member of “omochi” (4 Shinoharakita-machi, Nada-ku, Kobe), who supported the practical training, including menu development, said, “Just as we humans have our own personalities, vegetables and farm environments have their own personalities, and I hope that the children will learn that nature has a rhythm and that food is rich.
Yumi Saito, president of Learn Net Aaru, said, “I have learned the perspective of ‘value exchange’ through the theme of ‘stores. The experience of coming into contact with the thoughts and work of the “Bio Creators” was truly an “encounter with the real thing” and an accelerator for the children to increase their desire to explore,” he said. He added, “We want to promote the creation of a mutually happy store where people can learn about human connections and the exchange of diverse values in a warm local community.”
The restaurant is open at 11:45 and 13:00 (change of shifts). Advance reservations required.
