Cinema de Suishikobo” will be held at OS Cinemas Kobe Harborland (Chuo-ku, Kobe) on July 27 and 28. Advance registration is recommended as admission may be restricted on the day of the event depending on how crowded the venue is.
At the event, four manufacturing companies from Kobe City will exhibit their booths in a special venue in the lobby. Using authentic equipment and tools, visitors can experience making things related to “guesswork,” and original goods will be on sale.
Admission is 500 yen per person, and participants will receive one clear pouch. While visiting the booths, you can complete your “Made in Kobe” original “SUISIKATSU” pouch by filling it with parts and goods you made in the crafting experience.
Workshop for making guess-colored glass mirrors and rings
At the venue, visitors can enjoy a “Mystery colored glass mirror and ring making workshop” where they can make their own original glass rings and mirrors by gluing together various colors and shapes of glass, make name tags in their favorite color, engrave their favorite characters such as their name on the pouch stand and name tag to create original goods, and make key chain-sized mini sandals. (Each workshop requires a participation fee of 1,000 yen.)
In addition, there will be a corner where visitors can choose free parts to be inserted in the pouch, and original parts will be sold at company booths.
Hayato Teraguchi, who draws inspiration from Buddhism in his artwork, will also be exhibiting his artwork made from scraps and scrap materials provided by the event’s exhibitors.
The person in charge of the event said, “This is an event where you can learn about the local industry in Kobe through the creation of guesswork goods. You can make not only for the “suishikatsu” but also as matching goods with your family and friends! We look forward to seeing you there.
<A word from the reporter>
The content of this workshop is very unique and is sure to be exciting for adults and children alike! The reporter doesn’t have a particular guess, but… I wanted to participate! It will be a rare opportunity to make your own “guesswork” goods using the techniques of a company with deep ties to Kobe.
