Summer Festival” will be held at “Kaijinsha” (Tarumi Ward, Kobe City) on July 13, 14 and 15.
Since ancient times, Kaijinsha has been revered as the god of safe navigation and prosperous fishing.
On July 13, “Natsukoshi Purification” will be held to purge away the impurities of the past six months and pray for good health for the remaining six months. General visitors are allowed to participate in the “Kayano-wa Ritual” from around 11:00 a.m. (no one is allowed to go up to the shrine to participate), and can go through the Kayano-wa ring set up in the shrine grounds to purify themselves of bad luck.
Visitors can go through the thatch ring at any time until 9:00 p.m. on July 15.
Also, during non-ceremonial hours, visitors can go up to the main shrine to pray for the safety of their families and physical health during the second half of the year by transferring evil spirits to dolls.
The “Summer Festival” on July 14 is held to pray for the health of the shrine parishioners and the development of the local community.
The “Manto Matsuri” on July 15 is a Shinto ritual to pray for the development of the local fishing industry, bountiful catches, and safety at sea, and is attended by many fishermen.
Andon lanterns made by local children will be hung during the festival to liven up the “summer festival.
Many stalls will be set up on the grounds throughout the three days of the festival. Please note that alcohol is not allowed to be sold or brought in, and the festival will end and the gates will be closed at 21:00 on all three days.

This is a traditional Shinto ritual that has been held at “Kaijinsha” in the seaside town of Tarumi since ancient times. The public is welcome to participate in the “Kayano-wa Kuguri” to purify themselves of bad luck and live the remaining six months of the year in good health.
