Learn about sustainability in a fun and tasty way! Green Rice” at Takahama Quay

The “Green Rice Festival” will be held on November 16 and 17 on the north side of Takahama Quay in Kobe City’s Chuo Ward. Reservations are required to participate in making rice straw shimenawa (sacred straw rope) and jumping rope.

On the day of the event, there will be kitchen car stalls, a market where you can find “green” items, and a free food and agriculture education experience where you can play and learn about rice and the environment.

The kitchen cars will offer a wide variety of dishes such as popular Taiwanese soul food, sweets, butter chicken curry, omelette rice, and island cuisine prepared by the owner who is from Amami Oshima.

At the Marche, organic sweets, non-oil & gluten-free chiffon cakes, and natural gelato made from healthy vegetables will be sold.

At the learning booths, you can try your hand at making shimenawa (sacred straw ropes) and take a mini cooking class using rice.

In addition, kids dancers from the prefecture will perform various genres of dance on the stage to enliven the event.
