On February 23, a disaster prevention event “Everybody’s Disaster Prevention Society – Let’s have fun learning about disaster prevention for both children and adults! Admission is free. Admission is free.
The event is designed for families with babies and other children to feel free to participate. In the disaster prevention puppet show “Rattling Village and the Big Catfish,” a giant catfish comes to Rattling Village, where the animals live, and wreaks havoc on the town! The animals join forces to save a fox and his son who are trapped under their house.
This program conveys the importance of being prepared for disasters and the importance of mutual assistance in the community.
At the Self-Defense Forces Corner, the mascot “Hyochin” will appear and interact with visitors in addition to introducing rations and trying on uniforms.
At the craft corner, visitors can try their hand at making items useful in emergencies, such as paper tableware and cardboard toilets. The age range is from about 0 years old to anyone.
In addition, there will be workshops such as the “Take-out Item Game,” “Catfish School,” and “Make My Evacuation Card,” as well as a rally in which visitors can win prizes for answering at least eight questions correctly.
The hall is located along the Tsuga River and is crowded with families and children enjoying playing in the water in summer. The hall will introduce actual water accidents that have occurred along the Tsuga River, hoping that visitors will be prepared for such accidents.
A fire drill will be held at the adjacent Tsuga River Park from 10:30 am. Fire trucks and tools will be on display.
