Maya Tenjoji Temple and Sukuji-dai (Nada Ward, Kobe) will hold the Maya Pilgrimage Festival on March 29 to herald the coming of spring.

Maya, people from the surrounding area have been making a pilgrimage to Tenjoji Temple with their horses on the first horse day of the second lunar month to pray for the horses’ health and family prosperity since before the Edo period.

The “Maya Pilgrimage Festival,” which is associated with this custom, is held every year in conjunction with the spring opening of Maya Mountain. Horses invited from the Rokko Mountain Ranch, adorned with flower decorations, make a pilgrimage to Tenjo-ji Temple, followed by a parade to Suku-seidai (Suku-seidai is the highest mountain on Mt.

At the Suku-seidai, the Danjiri musical performance that calls spring, the declaration of the spring opening of the mountain, the Shibaoto goma (firewood goma) to pray for the safety and health of the mountain, rice cake making, and Maya kelp will be distributed in limited quantities.

In addition, Maya nabe, a specialty of Mt. Maya that was once served at lodging facilities on the mountain, will be sold (limited to 200 servings), and souvenirs and good luck charms from Mt.
