Kobe City: Fender Bender between City Bus and Motorcycle

This is to inform you of an accident involving contact between a city bus and a motorcyclist during the operation of a city bus service.

1 Date and time

Sunday, June 22, 2025, around 3:19 p.m.

2 Place of Incident

At the intersection of Sumiyoshi Higashi-machi 5-chome, 4-chome, Sumiyoshi Higashi-machi, Higashinada-ku, Kobe City

3 Incident situation

On the above date and time, a city bus on route 39 bound for Hanshin Mikage via Kamogahara 2-chome from Hanshin Mikage was turning east and right at the intersection, following a blue light, when a motorcyclist proceeding west in the oncoming lane struck the rear left side of the city bus, causing it to fall over and injuring the motorcyclist’s passenger. The motorcyclist was injured. One passenger on board was also injured (no other passengers were on board).

The police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Passenger car driver (59-year-old male) belonging to Uozaki Sales Office (Hankyu Bus consignment)

5 Injuries

One motorcyclist (50s male) was taken to a hospital for treatment.

One passenger (female in her 20s) suffered minor injuries to her left shoulder and neck.
