The “Eastern Market Festa” will be held on November 30 at the Eastern Central Wholesale Market (Higashinada-ku, Kobe) located in Fukaehama. Hours are from 10:00 to 13:00, admission is free, and the event will be held rain or shine.

This event is a scaled-up version of the “Shopping Day” and “Yokocho Festival” that are held in odd-numbered months to promote the wholesale market to the general public, and is held annually in November. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the opening of the Eastern Market and the 50th anniversary of the opening of the flower market, and there will be kitchen cars and stalls from companies in the 4th Industrial Zone.

In the event area of the wholesale building, there will be the annual tuna dismemberment show (reservations required) and fillet sales, a mock auction of vegetables and fruits, live fish sales in the fish pool, year-end products such as crab and salmon, produce, flowers, and processed goods at special prices.

At the Fair of Fruits and Vegetables, there will be a variety of products from various regions, and at the Ehime booth, taro “Iyo Bijin” will be served (100 yen per meal, tax included). In the shopping day area of the wholesale hall building, seafood and fruit and vegetable stores will be open for visitors.

In the Yokocho Festival area of the affiliated business building, there will be a jazz band performance, a handmade pork bun class (reservation required), and other events for children to enjoy, such as a quiz rally and a quiz to guess the weight of mandarin oranges.

If you get hungry, you can use the oden and castle town dog stalls in the event area, as well as the restaurants and eateries in the market. This year, kitchen cars selling crepes and Okinawan cuisine will also be on hand to offer an even wider variety of gourmet foods.
