Let’s go to the island! Music Festival “Awajishima Sumoto Love Fest” at Sumoto Shimin Hiroba

The outdoor music festival “Awajishima Sumoto LOVE Fest” will be held on September 29 at “Sumoto Shimin Hiroba” in Sumoto City, Awaji Island.

This handmade outdoor festival is organized by the Takatsuki LOVE Fest Executive Committee with staff and volunteers from Awaji Island. The festival was first held last year with the idea of “simply returning to one’s origins on the island of beginnings,” and this year will be the second time.

This year, 18 groups from inside and outside the island will perform, including rock bands, enka singers, pianists, and Awaodori dance troupes. A variety of performances will be held on a special stage.

There will also be a full lineup of stalls. There will be many kitchen cars and tent stalls of various genres, such as churros, pizza, Kobe Bokkake Yakisoba, and more.

Sumoto Shimin Hiroba, the venue of the festival, is located in the center of downtown Sumoto and is a beautiful green plaza surrounded by red brick buildings that are recognized as a Heritage of Modern Industry. In addition, since Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest, is from Sumoto City, a monumental statue of Dracula has been installed in one corner, making it a popular tourist spot.

The event was held for the first time last year. The weather was fine and the event attracted a large crowd. This year’s event will of course feature music, but the reporter has high expectations for the food and drink vendors!
