Hotel Okura Kobe (Chuo-ku, Kobe) will sell “Galette des Rois,” a traditional French pastry to celebrate the French New Year, from January 1 to 13, 2025 at the “Camélia” cafe restaurant.
Galette des Rois” by Koichiro Miyaji, 15 cm in diameter, 3,500 yen (tax included)
This product is the work of pastry chef Koichiro Miyaji, who won second place in the “5th Kobe Galette des Rois Contest” and is available for reservation starting December 20. Reservations can be made up to two days prior to the pick-up date.
The Galette des Rois is a crispy pie crust with the aroma of fermented butter and the luxurious taste of crème d’amande made with Spanish almond pudding and Tahitian vanilla beans.
In addition to the taste, the beauty of the surface was the subject of the judging, and the most difficult aspect was the delicate pattern created using a laurel leihe (pattern), meaning victory.
The 18 cm-diameter galette de roi will also be sold at the “Everyone’s Galette Exposition – 2025 Kobe Galette de Roi” to be held on the 9th floor of the Kobe Hankyu main building from January 10 to 13, for 4,860 yen including tax.
The person in charge comments, “We hope you will enjoy this dish, for which we have made many prototypes, during the New Year when you spend time with your loved ones.

The “Galette des Rois,” eaten to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6, is an indispensable New Year’s pastry in France. I would love to taste this contest-winning delicacy.
