Zuigaoka Hachiman Shrine has been enshrined as the god of misfortune in Tarumi since ancient times. Hachiman-O-no-Mikoto, the god of good luck, prosperity of family business, family safety, safe childbirth, and traffic safety, Tenjin, the god of learning, Arakami, the god of the kitchen, and Houtaiko, the god of success in life, are all enshrined here.

Tens of thousands of people visit the shrine every year for the Yakujin Festival, which has been held since the Edo period.
The “Yakujin Festival” is held from 9:00 a.m. to around 8:00 p.m. (the last prayer is accepted at 7:30 p.m.), and during this period, reservations for prayers are not required.
The festival is held to pray not only for the prevention of bad luck, but also for the prevention of misfortune, good luck, family safety, and health and longevity. Family members are also welcome to come to the shrine and pray together.
Please note that during the Yakujin Matsuri, you cannot visit the shrine by car. It is recommended to use public transportation and walk to the shrine, as it is about an 8-minute walk from Tarumi Station.
<A word from the reporter:
“Zuigaoka Hachiman Shrine” is called “Tarumi no Yakujin-san” (Tarumi’s god of misfortune). We are glad that the whole family can pray together for good health and protection from disasters.
