The “Arima Sakura Festival 2025” will start on March 29 at the Arima River Water Plaza (Kita-ku, Kobe) in the Arima hot spring resort area. Admission is free and runs until April 6.
Arima Onsen is one of the three oldest hot springs in Japan with a long history. It is said to have been loved by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and has been enjoyed by many people for over 1,300 years. The hot spring resort town offers elegant streets, fashionable cafes, and a wide variety of gourmet restaurants. We also recommend strolling along the slopes and visiting traditional ryokan (Japanese-style inns) and footbaths.
This event will add color to spring in Arima. The event will be held at the Arima River Water Park, near Arima Onsen Station, where visitors can enjoy cherry blossoms and the murmuring of the river, as well as the “Kitchen Stall Festival” and other events.
The opening event on March 29, the first day of the festival, will feature performances by the Arima Shamisen Club and a blues band, as well as a dance performance by Geiko, a Japanese traditional performing artist, and a monkey show. Takoyaki and oden stalls will also be set up. In case of rain, the festival will be postponed to March 30.
From March 30 to April 6, the “Kitchen Stall Festival” will be held. On the 30th, the musical group “Kirsch” will make an appearance to liven up the event.
A tunnel of cherry trees along the Arima River stretches from the Taikoh Bridge area to the downstream Momogen-do promenade, and is a popular spot for visitors to enjoy cherry blossom viewing while strolling along the river. The trees will be illuminated from sunset to around 10:00 p.m.
