I visited “New! That’s not what it’s about” exhibition at “Kobe Hankyu” in Sannomiya, Kobe City’s Chuo Ward.
This exhibition is the newest in the “Too Good to Be True” series, which has become a hot topic on SNS and has attracted a total of more than 500,000 visitors. The “That’s not what I meant” exhibition, which was well received last year, made its first appearance in Kobe, where the “It’s a matter of gratitude” exhibition was also held at the same time.
When you enter the venue, panels are displayed all over the walls, and when you get closer, you will see that the question “What would you like to have for the last meal of your life? A closer look reveals illustrations of everyday conversations that make you want to poke your head in, such as a man and woman immediately answering “buffet” to the question, “What would you like to have for the last meal of your life?
Another illustration depicts an everyday conversation in which a man and woman are asked, “If you could use only three kinds of magic, what would they be? to which he replies, “First of all, I would make it so that I could use magic all the time.
In addition to the panel displays, there are many other surprises to make you grin, such as a reproduction of a familiar sign posted in a restroom and an unhelpful fortune-telling corner.
In the “Thankfulness Exhibition” area, small everyday “thankfulnesss” are expressed with humor, such as “when my delivery schedule was greatly accelerated” or “when an experienced nurse gave me an intravenous drip.
In the center of the venue, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of works, including an installation using cardboard and a mannequin exhibit expressing gratitude to players who show home runs at baseball games.
Taku Meien, representative of the creative team “entaku,” who was involved in the planning of the exhibition, says, “Nine team members came up with approximately 350 words on the theme of emotions hidden in daily life that are difficult to put into words.
After touring the exhibition halls, visitors will be left with a highly addictive experience that will have them looking forward to the next work.
