I did it with Nori just for Nori! Ekiben Diary Commemorative Project: Awajiya “Akashi

Awajiya, a bento box lunch box shop headquartered in Higashinada-ku, Kobe, will release an onigiri ekiben, “Akashi no Onikiri bento,” on April 1.

To mark the 30th anniversary of “Ekiben Day,” which falls on April 10, the company will release ekiben developed by each of the 26 ekiben companies that are members of the Central Association of Railway Premises Management in Japan. Each company has planned a commemorative ekiben under the theme of “Nigiri-meshi,” which is said to be the origin of ekiben.
Akashi no Onigiri Bento” is an improved version of “Akashi no Onigiri Bento” sold last year. In addition to octopus rice balls, the bento includes kugini simmered squid eggs, octopus tempura, and a variety of cooked vegetables.

The novel look of the “Oni” (ogre) cut in half was inspired by the popular “Akashi no Oni-kiri” (Oni-kiri is a Japanese word meaning “devil” in Japanese).

While developing the product, I was chanting “Onigiri…onigiri…onigiri…” like a Buddhist prayer, and I suddenly became aware of something that was popular, and realized that I could write “onigiri” (onigiri)! I came up with the idea of writing the word “oni” on a piece of dried laver and cutting it in half. I don’t want you to know that I really meant it as a pun, “I was just trying to get into the mood for seaweed. ＜
It’s perfect for cherry-blossom viewing, traveling, and important competitions! It’s a cool onigiri bento! It also seems to bring good luck! The “Onigiri Ekiben” includes a “Ekiben Card” that introduces recommended local spots to enhance your travel experience, so it will be fun to collect them.
