Kobe Tourism Bureau to hold a one-day event to compare the coulonne des lois of each boulangerie

A one-day event, “Tasting of Couronne des Rois, a traditional Southern French pastry, with coffee and tea pairing,” will be held at Mikage Public Hall (Higashinada-ku, Kobe) on January 24, 2012. Registration is now being accepted.

At the venue, you can enjoy “Couronne des Rois” offered by 6 stores (Isuzu Bakery/Gourmand/Cologne/Sa Marsh/Bread Days/Boulangerie Recorte) representing Kobe, the city of bread, paired with delicious specialty blend coffee and strong tea The “Couronne des Rois” will be served with a delicious specialty blend coffee and strong tea pairing.

Couronne des Rois is a French pastry to celebrate the New Year. It is a “galette des rois,” a ring-shaped brioche pastry decorated with dried fruits, candied fruits, and sugar. It is characterized by the fluffy and sweet texture characteristic of brioche dough and is eaten mainly in the south of France.

The drink pairing is a two-part system of black tea and coffee. In the black tea pairing, coulombes des rois & brioche dough bread are served with milk tea provided by “tea room mahisa,” a famous black tea specialty store in Kobe.

For coffee pairing, specialty blend coffee from “LIMA COFFEE,” a popular coffee stand in Kobe, will be served.

While enjoying your meal, you can also listen to the chefs, baristas, and tea specialists from participating restaurants talk about their particular breads and delicious ways to drink tea and coffee.
