This is the season when the weather is warm and the cool breeze is pleasant. I went to “Seto Park” and “Hama Park” in Higashinada Ward, Kobe City, to “go out to a park with bread in hand.
Founded in 1977, Tomy’s now has five stores in Hyogo Prefecture and is one of the representative stores of “Kobe bread”.
I chose a “mackerel sandwich” to accompany my stroll. Take-out coffee is also available (from 170 yen). When I bought it, a hand towel was also provided, so it is a perfect item to eat while walking around.
Seto Park
After walking east for about 6 minutes, the first place I headed for was “Seto Park. The first place we headed to after a six-minute walk east was “Seto Park,” a spot on the roof of a sewerage facility with a great view of the city. Therefore, to get to the park, you have to climb up this gentle slope.
There are also stairs on the other side. The road around the park (Hama-Uosaki Line) is busy with cars and the sidewalks are narrow, so be careful especially if you are with children.
Finally, “Seto Park” appears. Please read the precautions before using the park.
Seto Park is an open space that spreads out in front of you. Since there are few people, you can play ball freely (hard ball play is prohibited).
There is a river nearby, so there is a cool breeze. There are many benches on the other side, and it looks like you can have a light meal here. We also found a plaza at the back of the park! Water fountains and hand washing stations are also provided.
In one corner, there is a small slide and a stump-style bench. It is a secluded place, but you can see the park from the apartment balcony, so it feels strangely safe.
Hama Park
The next stop was “Hama Park,” a one-minute walk from “Seto Park. Next to the ground is a playground with the park’s symbolic “Chikusan Slide.
Visitors can climb the mountain using their hands and feet like bouldering and enjoy the powerful slide. The concrete slides may be a little painful. It may be better to bring a rug!
Underneath the slide is a sandbox space, which softens the impact when you land on the ground. Be careful not to bump into it while playing. When we visited on a weekday evening, we could hear the energetic voices of elementary school children playing tag.
We found a curved slide, two swings, spring playground equipment, and a rotating jungle gym, which is not seen very often anymore. There is a covered bench where you can have a light meal. There are also washroom facilities.
In addition, there are “Gohyakuike Park” and “Nishihama Park” in the vicinity, which also have benches and are recommended for a break.
