The “waiting room” in the Hanshin Railway station. It is air-conditioned, and many people spend their waiting time for a train here, especially during this season. This time, I found a “hidden illustration” among the pictures in the waiting room! I looked for it on my way to and from the interview.
I hope you will look for the small illustrations hidden in the pop and colorful patterns when you visit the station.
We visited Aoki Station in Higashinada-ku, Kobe City on this day. Aoki Station has waiting rooms on both platforms….
The hidden illustration was in the waiting room on the down platform! A turtle is winking at you on top of a cute heart.
A photo from inside the room. Can you see where the turtle is?
It’s right here!
You can also look for hidden illustrations while cooling off.
Next, I got off at Uozaki Station to transfer to the limited express train. There was no waiting room on the down platform where I got off, so I went to the up platform to look for hidden illustrations.
I was able to find a handsome green train in this waiting room.
I also searched for hidden illustrations when I visited Ishiyagawa Station for an interview later in the day. This station has one platform, so it is easy to find.
There are two kinds of hidden illustrations in the waiting room.
The first is an illustration of a series of trains. The second is a “tokkuri” (sake cup) and a “ochoko” (sake cup). These illustrations are unique to Higashinada, a town known for its sake. It seems that there are other stations that have waiting rooms with illustrations that show regional characteristics, so I wanted to make sure to check them out the next time I go for an interview!
Waiting rooms are not available at all stations, and you can check the Hanshin Railway website for the stations that have waiting rooms. Why don’t you look for playful illustrations when you go out and enjoy the waiting time for the train?
