Kobe City: “Sea, Fish, and 00” Market in Komagabayashi

Kobe’s location surrounded by mountains and the sea produces a rich variety of agricultural and marine products, and the city is promoting “Gourmet City Kobe,” a city that thrives on food and where people gather for food.
In the Komagabayashi district in the southern part of Nagata Ward, about 40 fishermen set out their boats every morning, and the fish market is crowded with professionals who are connoisseurs of freshly caught fish.
This spring, a special market will be held where visitors can buy fresh seafood directly from the fishermen caught in the ocean stretching out before them, and also enjoy delicious food and drinks made with seafood from restaurants in the Komagabayashi area.

3. What is “Food Capital Kobe

Since 2015, Kobe City has been promoting the “Shokutoku-to Kobe” (Food Metropolis) concept in order for people to enjoy the unique charm of Kobe, where urban areas and agricultural and fishery areas are located in close proximity. As part of this initiative, the city aims to increase opportunities to encounter Kobe’s agricultural and marine products and producers, and to promote local production for local consumption.
