The world’s first! A “Kumiko” entrance welcomes you at a ryotei ryokan

On April 20, almost the entire building of Hotel ISAGO Kobe (Chuo-ku, Kobe), a ryotei ryokan in Rokko Nunobiki Onsen, underwent a complete renovation.

The theme of the renewal was “a place where you can be at home. The renovation was the most extensive in the hotel’s 75-year history, with the hotel closed for more than three months.
The world’s first “trick Kumiko
The symbolic “Kumiko” at the entrance is the first time a guest has experienced the inn. The entranceway, where guests first experience the inn, was commissioned to K-INO (Inomata Bijutsu Kenkuten) of Niigata, because they wanted to use traditional Japanese techniques to welcome guests. It took about six months to create this handmade work. It is probably the first automatic door in the world to use Kumiko!

Ryotei Butterfly, the original ryotei ryokan, was also completely renovated. The walls were painted by a professional plasterer, Mr. Keiichi Yamamoto, who paints walls with a single trowel.

Creative cuisine using Kobe beef
Kobe beef meets seafood from the Seto Inland Sea and carefully drawn broth to create Kobe-style ryotei cuisine. The restaurant’s staff members are dressed in kimono and offer hospitality and a ryotei-style experience.
Private hot spring (Rokko Nunobiki Onsen) completed in the first phase of construction (2022).
At the private hot spring, guests can enjoy a full 90 minutes of Rokko Nunobiki Onsen, which is said to be a hot spring for beautiful skin. In addition, all 25 guest rooms have been renovated into Japanese-style guest rooms, creating a high-quality hot spring hotel with a “wood, earth, and air” feel. ＜A word from the reporter:
