Yodel Singer Sakura Kitagawa to Hold Concert at Noufukuji Temple, Home of Hyogo’s Great Buddha

　Yodeling Sakura Kitagawa and Edelweiss Musikanten “Yodeling Concert at a Temple” will be held on September 3 at Noufukuji Temple (Kitagasegawa-cho, Hyogo Ward, Kobe City), which is known for the Hyogo Big Buddha.

　Ms. Sakura Kitagawa, a yodeling singer who will perform at the event, graduated from Kunitachi College of Music, and in 1994 formed the Edelweiss Musikanten, a musical group that performs German, Swiss, and Australian folk music, and has given hall performances and concerts throughout Japan.

　According to Mr. Kitagawa, he was the only Asian yodel singer to perform as a guest at the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, and in Switzerland, he won the highest class 1 award multiple times at the Yodelfest. She has been active in the home of yodeling in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, including the release of a yodeling CD in Switzerland.

　In addition to Ms. Kitagawa’s yodeling, one member of the group will perform on cowbell, accordion, and trombone, and singer/songwriter TAKERU will make a guest appearance at this concert. Online and offline performances will be held, and AR production will also be used.

　Kitagawa says, “I like to hold concerts at temples,” adding, “Temples have always been a place where people gather, and above all, a place where people can be honest in their feelings. It has nothing to do with religion, but I would like to hold concerts in the refreshing environment of a temple. I believe that yodeling and Alpine music are magical music that makes people smile. I want to bring energy and smiles to those who are trying to recover from corona fatigue,” he said.
