A mini exhibition, “Photographs of Tomitaro Makino, Botanist, from the Album of Masayoshi Kawasaki,” is being held at the Museum of Nature and Human Activities (Sanda City) from April 1 through July 30. 
The exhibition looks at the relationship between the Kochi Prefecture-born doctor and Kobe!
Tomitaro Makino is a botanist from Kochi Prefecture and the model for the main character in NHK’s TV series “Ranman” to be broadcast this spring. Did you know that Dr. Makino, a native of Kochi Prefecture, actually had a connection to Kobe?
With the support of a wealthy Kobe family, Dr. Meng Ikenaga, he spent some time at the Ikenaga Institute of Botany, which was established in Kaihageyama, Hyogo Ward, Kobe City, where he had many interactions with local private researchers. 
Dr. Makino when he stayed at Yotakuji Temple in Sanda City in 1936.
Among them, Mr. Masayoshi Kawasaki, a teacher at Nada Junior High School, was one of the people in the prefecture who had a particularly close relationship with Dr. Makino. This exhibition features approximately 40 photographs of Dr. Makino from the Kawasaki family’s photo albums. In addition to the photographs, the exhibition introduces information on the gathering and meetings that took place, allowing visitors to learn about the relationship between Dr. Kawazaki and the people. ＜
I am also looking forward to the broadcast of the morning drama featuring Dr. Makino. I am also looking forward to watching the drama, which is modeled on Dr. Makino’s character!
