The passion of the artists of the time, including France and Japan, is explored! BB Plaza Museum of Art

From April 25, “BB Plaza Museum of Art” (Nada-ku, Kobe) will hold a collection exhibition, “Concerto of Artists from East and West with New Collections at the Core: 100 Years since the Birth of Yoshiro Amiya” until July 17.
The exhibition brings together works by artists who have continued to pursue their own styles!
The facility opened in 2009. The facility opened in 2009, starting with a collection of about 100 pieces, and through subsequent purchases and donations, now houses more than 1,900 works by modern and contemporary artists from France and Japan.
This exhibition introduces works that are being exhibited for the first time, as well as works from the museum’s existing collection under the three themes of “People,” “Landscape/Nature,” and “Still Life/Flower and Bird Paintings.

The exhibition features approximately 60 works by French artists such as Camille Corot (1796-1875), known as the “Seven Stars of Barbizon” for her outdoor paintings of nature and everyday life, and Jules Dupré (1811-1889), as well as many Japanese artists who came to France during that period. The exhibition will feature approximately 60 works by many Japanese artists who came to France during that period.

This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Amiya Yoshiro (1923-1982), an artist associated with Kobe. The museum currently houses approximately 500 works by Amitani, which is one-fourth of the museum’s total collection. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary, the exhibition will also feature Amitani’s paintings that focus on the “human figure. ＜
Artists of this period influenced each other and continued to develop a variety of works. It will be a great opportunity to compare their works and learn from each other!
