The 1st Minatoyama Market, a festival to carry on the memory of Minatoyama Elementary School and to be enjoyed by local residents, will be held on April 22 at NATURE STUDIO in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City.

NATURE STUDIO is a community-type complex built on the site of the former Minatoyama Elementary School in the northern part of Hyogo Ward under the concept of “living with nature.” It is a popular spot that has been visited by many people since its opening last July, including “Minatoyama Aquarium” and “open air Minatoyama Brewery” where local beer is available.
The event was planned with the hope of creating an opportunity for local residents to gather at the closed elementary school and enjoy the area once again.

There will be three types of stalls: (1) food, (2) merchandise sales/flea market, and (3) booths for children’s store managers. The stalls range from neighborhood elementary school students to those who run restaurants in the Hirano shopping district, and more than 60% of the 30 stalls, or 20 stalls, are from people who have bases or live in the area near NATURE STUDIO (please check the official website for a list of stalls).

The festival will be a “festival like a school festival,” a day of lively voices in a former schoolyard. ＜
For elementary school graduates, it is nice to know that the place of their memories will always be there. I’m looking forward to seeing the first market there, even though I’m not an alumnus!
