Hong Kong has produced a wide variety of films for film fans. The Chinese government’s response to the pro-democracy movement has raised concerns about its future, but even amidst this uncertainty, there are an increasing number of masterpieces that reflect the times from a different angle.
This year’s New Generation Hong Kong Film Festival will also feature daily screenings of two films that have been ranked among Hong Kong’s top 10 films of the year in terms of box office success: My Prince Edward, the feature debut of Norris Wong, one of the hottest new directors in Hong Kong today, and a story about a “fake marriage” of an Alaska woman. The film is based on the story of an Alaskan Hong Kong woman’s “fake marriage”.
The other is “Far Away,” a romantic comedy about a young man working for an IT company who meets five attractive women of different types, but for some reason they all live in the countryside and he ends up wandering all over Hong Kong.
To commemorate this feature, a postcard will be offered as an admission present and a B2 poster as a repeat present. Both will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, and will end as soon as they are gone.
