All Night Screening “J Horror” SP” will be held at Pal Cinema Shinkoen (1 Shinkaichi, Hyogo Ward, Kobe City, Tel: 078-575-7879 ), a movie theater in Shinkaichi, Kobe, on August 12, at midnight.

The event, which features three special screenings from the end of the movie to the following morning, began in 2015 (Heisei 27) jointly with the “Movie Cheerleading Club,” a student group in the Kansai region that supports movie theaters. The event is held several times a year on an irregular basis, with a theme chosen each time.

So far, the group has organized “Director Rikiya Imaizumi All Night,” in which director Rikiya Imaizumi gives a self-commentary for each film, and “Shinkaichi Indoization Project,” a masala screening of Indian films for beginners.

Mr. Ryo Sakami, a staff member of the museum, said, “The horror film industry has been on the rise in recent years, with world-class hits coming out of the Asian region, and Japanese horror films were among the first to be recognized in Japan and abroad as ‘J-horror,’ and they still have a strong presence. This time, we will release a masterpiece of J-horror films featuring the two major characters who led the boom,” he said.

The films to be screened are “Ring” (1998, 95 min.) directed by Hideo Nakata featuring Sadako, “Ju-On” (2003, 92 min.) directed by Takashi Shimizu featuring Kyayako and Toshio, and “Sadako vs. Kyayako” (2016, 99 min.) directed by Koji Shiraishi.

Before the all-night screenings begin, a “Guided Night Walk” will be held. Takeshi Koyama, the museum’s third manager, will guide the group through the legendary spots around the theater and the streets of Shinkaichi and Minatogawa, which have a different atmosphere from the daytime. Meeting time is 23:15. The tour takes about 30 minutes. Free of charge. No reservation required.

Doors open at 24:00, show starts at 24:40. Advance tickets (reserved seats) are 4,100 yen for adults, 3,900 yen for seniors, and 3,500 yen for students.
