The exhibition “Artisans of Hyogo: Come, See, and Feel Hyogo Field Pavilion” will be held from November 11 at the Hyogo Prefectural Hyogo Tsu Museum Hyogo Hajimari-kan in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City. The exhibition will run until January 8, 2011.

The exhibition focuses on the craftsmanship of local artisans and introduces local products and handicrafts as well as the climate of the five Hyogo prefectures (Settsu, Harima, Tajima, Tanba, and Awaji). The “Field Pavilion,” which is being developed by the prefecture in preparation for the “Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025,” will also be introduced through images and other media.

The highlight of the exhibition will be the 5.5 meter-long “Miki Hardware Eagle. The metal eagle was created using approximately 3,300 saws and blades, and visitors can observe its creation and dismantling at the exhibition site (on display from November 23 to December 10; visitors can see the creation on November 23 and dismantling on December 10).

During the exhibition period, workshops such as cutting board making, planing, and netsuke making using leather scraps will also be held. There will also be a corner where visitors can play with toys made in the prefecture.

The event will be full of contents that will be fun for both adults and children! The 5.5-meter-long “Miki Metal Eagle” is definitely something to see.
